Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder that can greatly increase a patient’s risk for heart attack and stroke. During sleep the air passage becomes temporarily blocked causing breathing to stop several times throughout the night. Common symptoms include snoring, high blood pressure, weight issues, and daytime tiredness.

While traditional approaches typically include an uncomfortable and inconvenient CPAP machine, we use an FDA approved device that is more like a simple mouthguard used in athletics. This personalized oral appliance keeps the jaw in a forward position while you sleep, allowing your airway to remain open for an uninterrupted, better night’s sleep. It is small, portable, quiet, comfortable, and highly effective. The result is a good night’s sleep leads to more energy throughout the day as well as increased mental focus and clarity. Many patients (and their spouses) find treatment to be a lifesaver.

I was asked by my hygienist, Janet, if I had ever been tested for “Sleep Apnea”? No I had not, so Dr. Pell sent me home with a testing device which I wore for one night and returned it to them the next day. They sent it off to a testing facility and called me within a couple of days and said that I had a very severe case of Sleep Apnea! Dr. Pell and his team took action and fitted me up with an oral appliance to wear while I slept. I never realized how good a restful nights sleep was! Thanks to Dr. Pell and his amazing team, I am now sleeping all night long and waking up rested!
