Velscope

This handheld device is used by your dental team to help detect abnormalities of the mouth and gums that could indicate cancer or precancerous changes. Unlike traditional oral cancer screening, the use of Velscope makes it far easier for us to differentiate between normal tissue and abnormal tissue.
Velscope uses advanced fluorescent technology that works by emitting a safe and painless blue light that shows abnormalities in different colors making them much easier to spot than with the traditional method. By using both the traditional visual oral cancer screening techniques along with Velscope the chances of detecting any worrisome changes early are greatly increased.
